The Reverend Steven C. Rice is the 4th Rector of St Michael's Episcopal Church since the Church was elevated to parish status in the early 1980s. Fr. Rice grew up in the United Methodist tradition and served two churches as a United Methodist pastor in South Carolina before receiving the sacrament of Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church. He is a member of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament.

Fr. Rice is a graduate of Erskine College (B.A., Psychology) and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University (M.Div).

He is married to the former Cherilyn Walker of Auburndale, Florida and they welcomed their daughter Abby on August 31, 2004.

In addition to a sometimes daily blog for St Michael's, Fr. Rice also writes a bi-weekly column Waynesboro's newspaper, The True Citizen for which he was awarded a Georgia Press Association Award in 2006 and 2007.

Fr. Rice also has a series of videos on YouTube, St Michael's TV, that has been featured in the Augusta Chronicle.

Fr. Rice's interest include liturgy, theology, and church history. He loves football and roots each fall for the South Carolina Gamecocks (his wife is rabid Florida Gators fan). His favorite movie is The Exorcist, his favorite book is whatever he is reading now and his favorite television show is whatever is on the Discovery Channel or HBO.
